What do I want?
For a lot of people there seems to be a dichotomal switch between platonic and romantic relationships.
I’m not sure if I have that switch. For me there are infinite forms of relationships and they need not neccessarily be classified as ‘romantic’ or ‘platonic’. Is romance just a social construct? What I want: figure this out together.
Almost everyone, whether in relationship or dating, seems to struggle with authenticity. People create masks that hurt them throughout their entire life. And even though they might shed off some of the masks - there is always another one. In very rare cases do I see true authenticity in relationships - but even then is it authenticity, given the boundaries of a box called ‘relationship’. What I want: start from authenticity. Find out what is real together.
- I want to hold and be held.
- I want to explore authentic sexuality.
- I want to go on a spiritual journey together (whatever that might entail).
- I want to defy social norms.
- I want to support and be supported.
- I want to support others outside of our relationship.
- I want to lessen the unneccessary suffering in this world.
- I want to be me, you to be you.
- I want presence and loyalty, care and humor.
There are so many possibilities…
I have self-doubt about me actually being able to hold this. About me being able to follow through and stand for my beliefs. About being with my great discomfort, unmet needs and wounds. But I have been managing and growing stronger in the past years. I’m feeling more and more clarity and commitment. It would be so nice to grow together…
Here are some threads for starters:
I think the classic relationship has an enormous destructive potential that is taboo to talk about. I don’t want this relationship - yet I accept its energy. The influence it has on us, on me. I might even be okay with being in a very similiar structure for the rest of my life, given its power…
I’ve had an ‘open’ relationship for a year (we just called it like that to others) - we both went on one date. It worked really well.
I’m never completely closed to matters. But how can anyone be okay with putting children into this traumatized world (I do get it.)?
